MARKIA
To say the word “gospel” and “hip-hop” in the same sentence seems somewhat impossible; but to 27 year old MarKia, this is exactly what he is known for. Singer/rapper/writer/producer, he dedicates all of his talents to the one that gave it to him; Jesus Christ. At home in Melbourne, he is youth pastor at St Kilda Community Church; making his music not just empty words but real life. Having established Australia’s first Gospel Hip-Hop record label Five One Entertainment, MarKia continues to push the message of Christ in a way that would not be considered gospel music. MarKia already has two albums under his belt (Heaven Sent Instrument & M.I.A (Mark Is Anointed)), along with two mixtapes (Purpose Driven Hip-Hop Volume 1 & 2). He has also produced for some of Australia’s best gospel talent (The El-Shaddai Crew, HomeBase, Tino, Tania G, Lozza, Kash Boys, RY, 2-11, BASIC, Driven, Tru-In-Deed, Phenomena, Purified, Tim-O-Matic, Lolly, Tim Turner, Genesiz). MarKia has also worked & toured with some of the top names in Holy Hip Hop including Lecrae, Tedashii, Thisl, Json, R-Swift, Jason Mighty & G-Notes. MarKia does not crave the spotlight; he has no desire to be famous; he simply wants to use urban music to be the vehicle to bring the Gospel to the world.
