Lecare and the boys are back in the states and right back into the swing of touring and spreading the good news of Christ. Check out all their up to at lecrae.net
If your in Australia it would have been hard to avoid the Bathurst 1000 V8 super car racing over the weekend. You also may have seen the V8 Cars at The Big Exo Day this year, and possibly even made the connection... yes the 'Jesus All About Life' cars were the same cars in the race!! The boys had a V8 Ute and a V8 super car in the respective races.
Unfortunately they were a little hard done by with car troubles in the main race but they still were a great representation for Christians and certainly had the 179,000 live audience talking in one way or another about the 'Jesus' car!! One of my favorite comments by the commentators was "This car, just like its sponsors, is doing its best work on Sunday"... Brilliant.
With your help Compassion was able to reach their goal of 1000 acts against poverty and this is the result:
1037 cards signed to send to the government, asking them to increase the amount of funding they provide to improve maternal health and reduce child mortality, to help see global poverty halved by 2015
5 children sponsored
$2016 raised in donations
9 fair trade t-shirts sold, raising $270
It was a great day and Compassion will be sending the cards to the government to show that young people in Australia care about other young people all over the world and want to make a difference! They will also send the banner that over 1000 Exo peeps marked with their thumb print to show they care!
Good work guys! See! Together we really can make a difference!
Mission Australia helps thousands of struggling people each year find secure employment, housing, education and counselling as well as helping our communities through their other initiatives.
Taking into consideration the work that Mission Australia does for our communities nation-wide, Big Exo Day was proud to have Mission Australia come on board this year.
Thank you again to Mission Australia and all our sponsors of Big Exo Day 2009.
It was a big day and night of big bands, big rides and big stunts. We had the most amazing bands, FMX & BMX demos, skateboarding pros and special guests including Relient K, Lecrae, Tedashii, Steve Caballero and Reggie Dabbs to name a few. Check out the highlights video from one of the most excellent days in the year and remember that life can be Exo everyday and we can't wait to see you again next year!
We've heard some great things since Big Exo Day happened last Saturday. We had perfect weather with a bright blue sunny sky, the atmosphere was electric and we had over 10,000 people and around 1000 young people respond to the message. It was definitely one of the best Exos we have ever had!
All the zones were crazy! Strawberry Fields had massive lines for Napoleon touch ups, the Extreme Zones had epic displays and our first ever snowboarding display, Monster Skate had the legendary Steve Caballero ripping it up, Daylight Markets were buzzing, and all the band stages were epic with Blessed By A Broken Heart and Haste The Day putting on an awesome show in the Hardcore zone and the Hip Hop stage absolutely owning with something always happening with their great line up.
The night was kicked off by New Empire, Lecrae and Tedashii in the pre show then we had Exo favourite, Reggie Dabbs, speak after a great worship session with the Youth Alive band. Reggie's message touched the hearts of many young people that night and many will never be the same again. Then the night finished with the long awaited awesome show by US band Relient K and it absolutely went off!
Photos will be going up in the next few weeks so keep your eyes on this page!
We'll see you next year at Big Exo 2010 and if you didn't go this year, don't make the same mistake next year!

It's not always easy being a young person in today's society. You see the problems the world, your community, your school and your family are faced with, but sometimes it's easy to feel like no one listens and no one cares. When we say Big Exo Day is about you, we mean it! We want to provide you with a voice and a connection to people who make the big decisions, so that your ideas and suggestions can make a difference. We're bringing the Australian Youth Forum to you.The Australian Youth Forum is a Commonwealth Government initiative, designed to find out what young people in Australia have to say about the issues in their world. Do you have something you'd like to say about violence and safety, responsibility and being part of the community, body image or alcohol and drug abuse? Big Exo Day offers you an opportunity to do just that. The forum will be conducted over the course of the day, in various zones, so be sure to highlight them in your program. The forum will be hosted by some friendly and familiar faces and there will also be plenty of giveaways. That's right, we want to reward you for stepping out and telling us what you think because we know that takes guts. Don't miss this valuable opportunity to give your opinions, advice and suggestions to some powerful and influential people in Government. And if you like, why not start right now. Post a comment!!
I know its tucked away a little in the terms and conditions, but tickets are sent out 2 weeks before the event. This is a standard process. Thanks for being patient.
its 6 days before the event and me and my entire youth group have not received our tickets yet. Were all getting worried were going to miss out. Is there someone we should contact??

The ninja couldn't reflect my personality and character more perfectly. Despite the fact I use the term ninja to describe anything from Jackie Chan to my pet rabbits cunnign ability to escape from my arms, the ninja portrays my unique love for asian culture, parkour, and of course the beach! I may not be as small as a true ninja, but with a misfit board I reakon id be better able to move like one...so Jet Li, look out buster!
Tymeka Ireland commented on 22-Aug-2009 03:36 PM
I would Love The "fish" board, because it sounds like it would suit me perfectly ive currently been learing how to surf on a learner surfboard, and im desperate to move on to a better board. i live accross from the beach and surfing is my passion. It would certainly put a smile on my face to get such an awesome board.
Tash commented on 24-Aug-2009 06:52 PM
HOLA:)
I've been looking for a board for a while, even though id consider myself a grommit! I would have loved to have bought a board, but I've have had to save every penny towards my adventure in Spain at the end of the year. I'm trekking it out to Spain, to a coastal town called Gijon- renound as one of Spain's sweetest surfing spots! I'll be living for a month and a half with family friends who own a english school cafe. The family have taken a massive leap of faith, leaving Australia to start a God-ordained passion of theirs. Their cafe serves as a means to connect and wittness with local people, and to share their faith with a part of the world were the gospel is not very well known! They are linked with a church, and are seeking to start up some kid and youth outreach.
I know its a long shot, but hey it would be epic if the guys at misfits surfboards could help me out so I could catch some waves in Gijon, Spain!
peace!
Courtenay Turner commented on 25-Aug-2009 07:05 PM
I've got my eyes on the grom board. Looks mad (already love it), probly performs even better.. But really guys what am i supposed to say thats gonna win me a board? It's all been said a zillion times before.. So i'll say this, grom board is sick, i am a grom:) and would therefore, in my opinion be pretty well suited to it!
Ive got salt water in my veins and sand in my hair and hey if this board helps me get better and gets me stoke the way i know surfing does then yeeew........ im thinking the grom board and me would get on pretty well hey?
Murray Bothma commented on 30-Aug-2009 05:43 PM
Hey Dave
I was looking at your board guide and man the sk8ty looks so sweet would be a mad summer board! I have a short board but been finding it really frustrating in the tiny surf at the moment coz it’s been flat for so so long. But seriously the sk8ty looks so sweet like a real soul, playful board if that makes sense... I think I will have to pop in sometime, I have been looking for a Christian shaper on the northern beaches for a while now. Someone that also shares the same connection between the waves and the God who sends them! Well good luck with judging this completion it must be tough. God bless mate!
Courtenay Turner commented on 09-Sep-2009 07:38 PM
" This model is for frothin groms that eat, sleep and dream surfing"
(Well i can't say that i eat surfing but i sure dream about it)
I loved this board just by reading the first line. Surfing is addictive, beautiful, graceful and humbling. You dream about it and feel physical pain when you see it going off and you cant be out there!
After going to bali i'd like to think my surfing improved even just by watching people rip at Uluwatu!
One day i want to go out at Uluwatu- and maybe, just maybe, if i'm lucky- it'll be on one of your boards.
Who ever wins surf your heart out for us!!

Thanks YA Team, I really, really look forward to seeing RK play!!! Its been a long, patient, and slightly frustrating wait, haha. Thanks heaps for putting on such a wonderful event where so many young people can share in fellowship under our Lord and Saviour Jesus. Bless ya.
If its cool with you guys I would love to take a little time out amongst the hustle and bustle of planning your School Exo Days, motivating your friends and youth groups to get to the Big Exo Day 09 and getting pumped over the monster lineup we have this year... and spare a thought for the work of compassion.
We are more then privileged again this year to partner with such a great organization and are excited to be stepping it up a notch with our social justice initiatives. The Big Exo Day is about placing value on young people, ALL young people, everywhere, despite the geographical or social differences between us. Compassion is a practical way of out-working this thought.
Look out for their tent in the Daylight Markets at the Big Exo Day or go to compassion.com.au to find out how you personally can partner with them.
Hey you guys have bled us dry!! We've had more promo requests than we expected and run out of cards. We're all over it though and sending another 55,000 to print on Mon. I'm talking like BULK youth group ticket purchasers!!! Can you believe it, in one order we just sold 46 tickets to a legend in Taree!!! 46 in Taree!!! Wow! That is so super cool!!! And what a dead set legend!!! If they can do it in Taree they can do it where you're from. Don't leave it till the last minute, get your tickets today!!! If you're from Regional NSW, and you can beat the Taree guys we'll post it here! Come on, who's up for some regional rivalry.....Sandra
I'm super pumped about this, the daylight markets are starting to get fleshed out with some amazing artists, designers, photographers muso's etc.
Jessen Pipiciello from the northern beaches of Sydney has just confirmed she's in! Her custom diaries are so nice. I'm excited to see more of her work on the day.

Hey Timmy.
Haste the day will get more airtime headlining the hardcore stage. There's no doubt they deserve it, they're an awesome band! Thats why we would rather have them headline the hardcore stage then get limited time on the mainstage.
I'll be in the crowd! There's no doubt about that.
See ya there!

i dont really get how the tickets work
floor tickets are sold out, so thats a shame, but if i buy section A tickets does that mean i'll have to sit on seats at all stages or just the main stage? will i be able to be on the floor for the hardcore stage?
Hey Dan,
Thanks for the post. I altered the tickets page so it's a bit clearer. The Tickets are solely for the main stage. During the day you can go where every you want, if fact i highly recommend checking out all the zones/stages. Cheers,YA
