Battle Of The Bands
VOTING LINES ARE CLOSED!!! THE TOP 7 WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS!
Big Exo Day isn’t just about having a great time. It’s so much more than that. It’s about providing a platform for aspiring artists to get a break, to gain some exposure, and to experience the thrill of playing to a BIG crowd. But we think it’s just not good enough to provide a platform. We want to help!! So we have devised the Big Exo Day Battle of the Bands. So this year, we present to you a competition like no other competition Big Exo has seen before. Our aim is to make this the most popular zone on the day and to expose the most exciting emerging local artists.
24 artists have been chosen out of all the entries and now the show is on! 12 of the Top 24 will be featured this week and the other 12 next week, showcased in videos, on the web and over email, and then the general public will get to vote for their favourite out of the 12 each week. The top ranking bands, with the most public votes, will then play in the Battle of the Bands on Big Exo Day. So it will be up to YOU to win this comp!
THE PRIZE
Winners will receive a “jumpstart pack” valued at over $20,000 including:- Time in a world class recording studio with a renowned producer/engineer to record your breakout single.
- Mastering by a world class company
- Record/distribution deal
- Video clip
- Myspace/merch artwork by a world class graphic artist
- Photo shoot with a top quality photographer
- Radio interviews and exposure through Hope 103.2
- Stocking of your single in Koorong Bookstores**

**Koorong agrees to add the winner’s CD to their stock line and make it available for purchase in-store (number of stores will vary depending on external marketing influences such as radio), online or over the phone. Koorong cannot not make any promises regarding initial order size, catalogue promotion or product placement within stores. The winners CD would be subject to the normal Koorong purchasing terms and conditions and product would need to be bought on a firm sale basis at 50% discount off the RRP.

SHINEGIRL
This year at Big Exo Day, in cooperation with Shine Girl, the next Shine Magazine will be created. This means interviews, photo shoots, and an opportunity for you to have YOUR say about girls, image, and being young in a mad world. Plus we will be featuring local young designers, a fashion parade featuring (Vacant Heart), and heaps of other brand new things!Stay tuned to find out how you can be involved.
CALLING ALL UPCOMING DESIGNERS!
This year Strawberry Fields is giving all ExoChicks the opportunity to enter their own designs into the Fashion Parade! If you have a passion for textiles and design, you make your own clothes or you just want to take on the challenge to come up with a fabulous outfit, we'd love you to apply!There are three categories that you can enter:
- Victorian (Think: Regal, Crowns, Princess)
- The Party look (Think: 'Girls just wanna have fun', vibrant, colourful clothing)
- Denim/Jeans (Think: Creative designs with denim and jeans)
Five designs for each category will be selected to be walked down the Strawberry Fields Catwalk at The Big Exo Day. There will be a winner selected who will win an awesome prize pack from Butterfly Foundation (Sportsgirl and Dove). Winners will be judged by a panel of industry design professionals on the day.

Please have entries in by 11th September. The 15 designs will be selected and notified on Saturday 12th September. Designers will be responsible to bring their outfits and models to Strawberry Fields Zone on Big Exo Day (19th September) by 12.30pm to the stage area.

SOCIAL JUSTICE
One act can change the world: imagine the impact of 1000. This year at Big Exo we are going to do it! 1000 acts against poverty that will make a difference to the lives of thousands of young people around the world. Check out this article on the Compassion website for more info and come prepared to do your part in 1000 acts against poverty.As a young person you really can affect the world around you. You really can put your mark on the world, be remembered for something, rescue someone, stand up for the weak. We implore you to get involved with some of the social justice initiatives this year. It’s really so simple. Big Exo is about placing value on young people. ALL young people. EVERYWHERE!!!
There are heaps of things you can do, and we will be updating this page with ideas. Consider what you can do in your own community. Maybe you could even run a School Exo Day!

You can download posters and flyers to pin up around your school, pin them up around your house, hit up the skate parks and hand them out, make a cape out of them and put it on your dog and use him as a Big Exo mascot...do anything you want to promote Big Exo Day!
You will be the word generating as much interest about Big Exo Day as you can!!! IMAGINE IF WE GOT 50,000 to Big Exo Day one day. Well YOU have the power.
Being a Big Exo Day Volunteer is super fun! I mean it! We all get a bit batty and do crazy things! Plus we get to be part of the maddest event in the world!
